A Frame Cabin 8x10 Lino Print
A Frame Cabin 8x10 Lino Print
This is a handmade, limited-run piece carved and printed by me in Squamish, BC. This print was made using a lino printing technique where the design is cut and carved into the linoleum surface. This technique is a form of relief printing where the pieces carved away will not be inked, and those remaining will. Due to the nature of this "by hand" printing process there may be some variations from print to print. They are imperfectly perfect and unique in their own way.
*Limited edition print: 20 prints in total*
Each edition is signed and titled by me in pencil at the bottom of the print.
Dimensions: 8 inches x 10 inches (portrait) Paper type: Natural White, heavyweight printmaking paper. Acid Free. Medium textured. 280 g/m2
Ink: Black water soluble, non-toxic block printing ink.
About the Print and the Inspiration Behind it:
I lived in Central America for about 4 years. During this time I can wholeheartedly say that I lived simply. We spent our days out in nature with friends who felt like family. We had family dinners on the regular, met for coffee at sunrise, were usually barefoot, did clothing swaps, hunted for avocados, and went fishing. If anyone caught anything, it was always shared!
Money held less value down there, as did new clothes, fancy cars, the size of your home and the latest electronic gadgets. They just didn't seem important.
I now find myself living back in the mountains of BC and in search of that life once again. I'm sure we can all agree that it is easy to have "wants." The hard part is asking ourselves if its really what we "need." This humble cabin is small and cozy and reminds me of the tiny 6 x 6 metre home I lived in those years ago. In my mind I see this tiny nest as a place that gives so much beyond just shelter to those who enter. It’s a place where friends and family, and friends of friends, and friends of family, are welcomed with warm hugs and are given a mug of something hot with a blanket to snuggle up in. Stories and laughs are shared inside those walls. Creative projects come to life around this home and spontaneous adventures are born over late night chats by a crackling fire. Nestled in the mountains, surrounded by nature and ready to love and nurture all who enter. An A Frame haven. A true home.
