Gondola Letterpress Print
Gondola Letterpress Print
This "Gondi" print was made using an old form of printing called letterpress. Letterpress printing, now somewhat of a rarity, is a form of relief printing where the artwork has been pressed into the paper.
The design was printed in Squamish, BC on a Heidelberg Press by Okie Dokie Press, a small print shop you likely won't find online. Dimensions: 8 inches x 10 inches (landscape) Paper type: 100% cotton 200lb paper (thick and gorgeous.)
About the Print and the Inspiration Behind it:
During the pandemic I was fortunate enough to live in the mountain town of Squamish, BC. Over this time I had some dreamy days snowboarding at the world class ski resort of Whistler Blackcomb...oh so glorious they were. Every time I rode the gondola I was in constant awe of the natural beauty that surrounded me. This place I lived in was quite literally heaven on earth. Excuse my while I pick up my jaw....
I also can't help but laugh at the fact that I am flying through the sky in a small little gondola cabin...how nuts is that? The view from up there is something else. That bird's eye view of those snow covered tree tops and those tiny little people is a treat in itself. I suppose it's the reward for waiting in the long gondi line!
The frame in picture was hand made by my talented dad and is not for sale. 11x14'' mat with 8x10'' window. Art print: 8x10''
